Yeah, who would have thought that sentence would ever be spoken. Anyway, I wanted to go ahead and go back to Vista with a fresh install, and proper Raid drivers to see if I can get things running normal on here. Now I am getting a failure to connect message that I can only assume is related to .Net which vista claims to already be installed.

Here is the message. I'm sure I will feel like a moron once you guys tell me what little thing I am missing. And this is what I get on the first instillation as well.

OpenSCManager failed:
Access is denied. (error 5)
Unable to remove the previous installation, install failed.
account (domain\user) [Blue\Godfather]: godfather
password:
confirm password:
Password encrypted into the Registry.
Unable to connect to 'Blue:8676',
sock error: generic socket failure, error stack:
MPIDU_Sock_post_connect(1228): unable to connect to Blue on port 8676, exhausted
all endpoints (errno -1)
MPIDU_Sock_post_connect(1275): unable to connect to Blue on port 8676, No connec
tion could be made because the target machine actively refused it. (errno 10061)

Press any key to continue . . .

UAC? (sorry, it is early for me)Start<Run. Type "msconfig" and press enter. Go to the last tab and scroll all the way to the bottom. Left click on "Disable UAC" once, hit "Launch" in the bottom right. You will see a command window, that means it is done. Restart.

Thanks guys. It is properly installed, and running now. Let's keep our fingers crossed that I won't get those errors again, and everything will run smoothly from here on out.

BTW, what is UAC?

JK, It means User Access Control...very very stupid. It is the whole "allow and deny" windows when you do anything.

User Annoyance Center

LOL Yep, pretty much.

I looked it up after posting that, and though oh...duh. I'm glad this came up though b/c I was about to post about how to turn that crap off. I'm new to Vista so I just learning all the tweak settings (less than a week with it the first time).

Thanks again for the help. So far so good, @ 3% with about a 10.5min frame average @ stock clocks.

Those speeds are good, but even better once you overclock ;)

ASUS 680i has been giving me fits when I try to get a clock. I really haven't put much effort into it yet, but the best I could do for a bench run was 3GHz. Once I get the rest of the issues ironed out I will be trying to get a stable 24/7 clock on it.

680 is notorious for being horrible with quads.

Yep, that's what I hear. I am seriously considering a mobo change, but I have another rig design (custom case) that I would like to finish first.
