Well I've never actually played a PS3 (i know i know, all my friends have wii or PC). Is setting up folding pretty idiotproof?

Any useful information about PS3 + Folding would be greatly appreciated. It is the 40GB model.

It's really easy to fold on it. Under the network menu, the final option is Folding@Home. Highlight it and press the X button. :p

When you get into the program you want to press the triangle button to get to the menu, and from there you can change your name and Team ID and set it up for the advanced client. Also, be sure to turn off the music option (a retarded feature from Stanford/PG if you ask me) and set the screensaver to activate as soon as possible (both will optimize your folding).

Should I just leave it folding when trying to play games, will it automatically turn the folding to low resources so the games don't chug?

its not like the pc client.....it wont do both - you have to quit the folding to play a game.

which is why you set up the screensaver, so that when you finishing playing you dont have to keep loading the folding app

Hmm, do you need an open internet connection to have the PS3 fold?

My standard 4 port router is full :(

Do you have a wireless LAN? Your PS3 will support Wi-Fi, 802.11g I believe with support for WEP/WPA if needed, and it is acceptable for folding. You can setup the WLAN under the Settings/Network menu. It's a little slow for PSN downloads IMO though.

Yes, it sends and receives just like the PCs.

Might need help with this later, I'll try setting it up wirelessly tonight or tomorrow. Thanks for the help everyone :)

My router is the Wireless G Linksys 54MBPS (model WRT54G).

Also, I'm almost 100% inept when it comes to networking :)
