Well for the first time since late 2006, it seems the folks at Creative have decided to grace us with their newest driver for a select few x-fi cards. Just wanted to give everybody the news :). Mind you it says it does not support the Xtreme Audio version of the card. But nonetheless there are new drivers, long overdue as they may be.
a lil info:

Fixes:

* Resolves the issue for systems with 4 GB of RAM.
* Resolves the Digital I/O detection issue when restarting your computer.

Known Issues:

* Before installing this driver, close the Creative MediaSource Go! application on your desktop and restart your computer. (After you have installed this driver, you may manually launch the MediaSource Go! application from the Start menu)
* When adjusting the master volume in any of the Mode Console, there is no sound output in the rear speakers. (Use the Microsoft Volume Control panel to adjust the master volume)

HOLLY **** they really did release a new driver.... i just wish they would release one with DDL... cus the auzentech X-FI prelude uses creative drivers... hell creative makes the drivers for that card and it has DDL which was enabled by a driver update.... GRR!

Besides Creative's site (or using Creative Software AutoUpdate), the new drivers can also be found here...

Because the comet is still heading towards earth. I mean, this was one of the signs of the apocalypse man, Rings of fire should appear under yander screen (xbox 360 red rings) the end of a war (HDDVD/Bluray) and the re teachings of voice (release of new xfi drivers) RUN FOR THE HILLS MAN RUN FOR THE F***ING HILLS

Do these drivers add DDL decoding? No! The CL X-Fi cards (all of them, even the Elite Pro) will never have DDL support.

The only X-Fi based card with DDL (and DTS in a future driver release) support is the Auzen X-Fi Prelude 7.1 (http://www.auzentech.com/site/products/x-fi_prelude.php).

Don't look at me, blame CL for that. :)

If I remember right there was someone that was working on hacking CL drivers to add DDL/DTS but I've lost the link, didn't really pay too much attention to it as I didn't have a XFi card.

Going to have to look into that again.

Going to have to look into that again.Never going to happen. DDL is..... well digital and for digital output you'll need either a coaxial or optical connector. CL X-Fi cards don't have that, only analog connections.

The Prelude however (and the X-Meridian as well) has both a coaxial and optical connector.

That sucks :( I guess as long as my 360/PS3 put out DDL/DTS its ok.

Actually, the CL X-Fi's do support DDL decoding, as its just a normal Dolby Digtal encoded signal. The X-Fi supports decoding of DD, DD EX, DTS, and DTS-ES. ;)

This is also wrong. The X-Fi cards do support coaxial or optical digital outputs, as well as inputs. This is for the models even without the breakout box, and obviously, the breakout box has the connections already there. A I/O module can be purchased straight from Creatives website if you want the digital out/in accessory. The headers are also on the card and there are a number of guides out there that you can use to make your own Digital I/O panel.

I don't know if its possible with my card, I just have the cheap Dell OEM of XtremeMusic, but you wouldn't happen to have a link to some guides showing how to make a DIY digital connections? Out mostly.

You can buy the optical outputs from Creative

Hmm that looks like an analog plug....so that thing supposed to convert analog to digital?

No. A plug is a plug. Whether it carries a analog signal or a digital signal, its still just a plug.

It's a digital plug. If you read the Creative manual, you'll see that their main socket does both digital and analog depending on what it detects as the plug.

It seems that this driver also updates the firmware of the X-Fi's.

When i installed this driver on my gf's rig (she got a X-Gamer Fatal Pro) i got the message that the firmware would be updated upon next reboot. It also took me 2 reboots to complete the install.

Am i blind or can someone confirm the firmware update? (wish i could take a screenshot, but the card is already updated, i think  )

Never seen them in a retail/web store either.

The auzentech drivers are the same as these Creative drivers only modded and better. (These creative drivers are the same as a beta released a long time ago, only WHQL now).

Just update from the auzentech site. Dolby Digital Live was added a long time ago.

Just reread your message, guess you were asking for hardware support that can't be added by driver updates lol. Sucks for you that you don't have the auzentech card, cause it rocks. :)

well all seemed fine and dandy for a few days but the other night while playing cod4, i got that infamous high-pitched squeal . and after a subsequent reboot, had no sound. so i reinstalled the new drivers again and it was back. but upon the next reboot, i had no sound at all. my mic worked, as other people could hear me in game but sound did not. so all my hopes of having a once-and-for-all fix for my card have now been dash. good luck to others, hopefully your cards will work better now though:rolleyes:

what card do you have ? which pci slot is it in? I always put my card on the bottum pci slot.

I used these new drivers since they were released and they work great for me with system in sig, I use this drive, alchemy and the audio console launcher to switch between entertainment and gaming modes.

Other driver combos have given me issues with crackling and bsod but i have never got the SQUEAL.

this install of vista 64 with SP1 has been nothing short of incredible for me I have no issues whatsoever now... so far

thats weird, you may have some weird IRQ issue or even a mobo problem then.
are you totally updated from mobo bios to OS to drivers?

yes sir, EVERYTHING is up to date as far as software and is bios 502. i know that 605 is out but dont see any point in flashing for lack of a 45nm. i thought about irq issues but i cant seem to find any conflicts and haven't had any blue screens, so yea, i dont exactly know what the deal is  i may just flash it to 605 and find out but i doubt that anything will help
