is there a large difference between the mx400 and the ti version of geforce 2. if not what's the difference between the name brand ones and the generic ones (looks like around 5 or 6 dollars).

Enough of a difference to say yes. Is it enough to run out and grab a Ti as an upgrade? Dunno, guess that would depend on how much you could resell your mx400 for and what the Ti would cost.

The MX 400s are really down on price at pricewatch...not sure what the resell would be.. best bet probalby would be ebay. I see a lot of people selling them for prices above pricewatch.

There is more of a difference of the name brand and the generic that the money. Some give you heat sinks, some have fans on them....also the quality of the memory and the ability to overclock it varies.

etc. etc.

Ouch Diamond Stealth my bro had that card it sucked in every graphic all the text was fuzzy and stuff.

Were you planning to upgrade your card?

Defintely any Ti series will whoop MX400 back some where...

Visiontek GF2 Ti . These cards rock. I have the GF3 Ti 200 and am at 220/500 no problem. (175/400 stock) I have heard of GF2 Ti's getting higher than that.

elsa makes some great cards too. i own a gf2 ti from elsa and it comes with ramsinks and an orb-like hsf. it also sports ddr ram so its very overclockable.

This card is probably not the best GF2Ti out there, but I removed the stock HSF and put on a blorb and added some radioshack aluminum ramsinks for a total of about $14. Also used Artic Silver II. I overclocked it to 255/460 from 250/401. Using detonator 23.11's, I had to sacrifice the TV-out, but that gave me a big performance boost. 3dmark2k1 best score at default 1024x768 32 bit is 5373.

leadtek is also considerably cheaper than visiontek. almost everyone has leadtek cards so i'll check it out. do you guys (or gals) think my rig can run it the 4k range with my rig and a ti?
