I posted this in another thread as a follow up to a different question, but I didn't get any response to this question, so I thought I'd put in its own thread. Apologies if this annoys anyone :)

How long do you guys typically run ATITool (or whatever) and watch for artifacts? I'm asking because I know people say anything from 8 - 24 hours on a CPU stress test, but I'm guessing this isn't the case on a video card.

I ran a test for about an hour and a half artifact free on my 8800 GTS 640 (according to ATITool's logs.) Sound good?

Thanks!
Matthew

when im playing games on pc i usually play for about 6 hours or more, so when i overclocked my gpu i let my gpu stress test run for about 8 hours, depends on the person though some ppl say 2 hours is more than enough for them etc etc i just do 8 hours on both cpu and gpu

I only use ATItool to heat up the card for OC testing. Once I reach an artifact free point I loop 3dmark06 for a few hours. If it doesnt crash then I consider it to be stable.

I just run ATI Tool for about 25mins. I also run certain 3DMark loops 8-12 times for the video memory and to heat the core up. I haven't ever had issues after doing that, but if so I would just go down a step to correct it.

That's one thing about these 8800's...the clocks go up in steps, so if you're artifacting just a little, the next step down will usually fix your problems.
