7600 GT Pencil Mod Success

I was looking to get a bit more out of my BFG Geforce 7600 GT OC. So I decided to overclock it.

Stock from BFG
Core: 580
Mem: 725

Here's my overclock without the voltage mod:
Core: 641
Mem: 775

Now here's the OC after the pencil volt mod:
Core: 690
Mem: 850

I checked the voltage with a DMM and the Core is at 1.4/1.42 (idle/load). I didn't measure before the mod so i can't compare. The mem voltage measure point is toward the bottom of the card so it's hard to touch it without shorting out something so i didn't measure what the mem is at. I'm using a Zalman cooler (in my sig). My temps never go above 55oC. My 7600 GT has served me well but maybe in the summer i'll get the 8800gt.

i was contemplating this as well, but directron sold out of the cooler i wanted so i never got around to doing it :(

i love my 7600gt in my htpc.... thing runs so friggin cool with my vf900. and its got nuf power to run CS 1.6 @ 1080p with some AA. hehe

my 7600GT played CS:S well, and barely TF2, i am sure with some OC'n it would do just fine, the card is now in my work rig, if i get a cooler for it, i will be sure to try this for it for sure.

i loved my 7900 but alas, the more i ran 3d mark the lower my score would go so into XFX it went, and i dont know if i am getting it back or if they are sending something else, i'll find out on tuesday.

the 7 series seems to be where its at, 8 and 9 dont really have any thing significant over the previous except some fancy stuff and stream processors instead of hard coded processors. i prefer the hard coded but thats me.

8800Gt dude kicks the crap over anything 7 series...lol now the 9 series is just some re-badged 8* series cards overclocked here and there.

the 6* series is where it "was" at cause the FX line was so baddddd.
