Hello

Ok this is my problem the comp in my sig, last week friday just shut off black screens fan still running and when i tried to restart
the power light came on, hdd light came on, fans went on but it would not go into the bois. I pulled every card outand the hdd's, cd rom drives even the floppy cleared teh cmos. Then with the vid card and key board tried to get into the bois, no luck. Then i switched the psu, still no luck.

So I went to the trade show and bought,
MSI K7N 420 Pro, amdXP 1600, 256 of NEC ddr

thru in the mobo vid card and wala the bois COOL
thru the rest to gether and loaded winXP on it ran fine for 2 days bumbed it up to 140FSB ran fine, but the matrox went back to 1x agp so i went back to the bois and changed it back to 133fsb when i hit to save and it went to restart, it did not go back in to the bois just like before lights, fans and thats it

Has any one seen this before?? or know what is going wrong
im going to take the board back to the place i bought it and have them test it

Thanks guys and Happy New Year every one

it sounds like you are frying your BIOS chip, although since you used all new components the second time I'm not sure how it could've happened.

Are you using a surge protector? Do you have a lot of electrical transients (spike, brown out, etc) in your area?

Haven't seen that before, so this is a guess: power supply freaking? Sounds like the same thing happened to two different mobos.....

You have another psu you can try for the next board?

Or you could try testing the voltages/ amps from your psu- I'm not a tech, but there must be a way to check amps (volts are easy: even I can run a multimeter!)

good luck man!
