Xbox 360 wired controller is just about the best PC controller. Pinnacle Game Profiler has a profile for COD4 as well. Works great.

I like the Logitech Rumblepad which also has profile software. I'm sure you've heard this but the mouse and keyboard are to some of us the greatest things about PC gaming. I won't hardly touch a console anymore. But I almost exclusively play FPS's and maybe the occasional racing game such as Dirt or NFS series.

just get used to mouse/keyboard tbh, can't imagine you would rather use a controller for fps games.

Most everyone will tell you that if you use a controller in COD4 multiplayer you will get shot-up by those using a keyboard and mouse, mainly because the keyboard and mouse are faster. I agree with ratbuddy though, the XBOX 360 controller is the best gamepad around for PC. I like it for racing games, but I prefer keyboard and mouse for FPS.

I like using controllers beacuse I think they are more comfortable, especially the 360 controller. The usb 360 controller works great on the PC.
Most console FPS' implement an auto-aim system but none of the online FPS' for the PC do. That's why it is better to use a mouse for a FPS online for the PC.

automatic aim isn't fun, it makes you feel like a crippled person

This is why on the rare occasion I play a FPS it is on the 360. I have tried to get used to a KB\mouse but I just cant get comfortable with them. Most of my gaming is RTS and racing or other sports so it is mostly a moot point for me.
But as others have mentioned they are superior in the multiplayer arena. There is a reason a market for $80 gaming mice exists. If you want to be competitve in online matches you are going to have to adapt or change to consoles.

My thoughts exactly. I use the 360 controller for racing games and kb/mouse for FPS. when i first switched to PC gaming I hated using the kb/mouse, but once I got used to it I have never played any FPS on a console.
