sounds like a short somewhere, make sure u dont have any screws that fell into the case. Also make sure that all ur memory sticks are pushed it all the way. Will it even post?
Power meaning the system won't even turn on.
Its like take out your power plug and try turning on your system obviously no cigar...

I'll reply here instead of the other thread since this area is more appropriate.
Regarding the Power switch wires: there are lots of wires coming out of the front panel of the case. These should be plugged into the motherboard somewhere. The wires to the power switch should be marked as Power SW or something like that and plugged into the appropriate header on the motherboard.
If you happened to have knocked it loose while switching vid cards, your power switch wouldn't do anything but click. Check for an area in the lower front of the motherboard where 5 or 6 connectors come together (power switch, power LED, reset sw, etc) and see if any are laying away from the board.

Is the cpu fan running?
Sounds like time to disconect all drives, remove cards and try to get your board with processor to post.:eh?:

You can't just plug the power supply in to the board without grounding it to the case.......it won't work if it's not.

So then how should it be done? I was just looking for one boot thats it.

I'm saying the power supply has to be screwed in to insure grounding with your case......some people try to just plug the supply in to the board without actually screwing it in.

I don't see how that makes much of a difference cept for the fact thats its in the case now.

I bought a case about 6 months ago and experinced the same problem you are having.....in a rush I tried plugging the supply in to the board and just sat it on the case, needless to say it did'nt work until I screwed it in( good ground w/the case).:)

When you changed vid cards, was the pc turned off and the
power cord pulled??

It sounds like you are trying all the things I would suggest, but it might be time to take a breather: go do something for a few and come back fresh! It does sound like the mobo is grounding out somewhere though.
One point though: I build all my systems out of case first, and have a pc running in a cardboard box right now: I don't think the psu needs to ground to case. :)

I have to disagree with mx, also, on the necessary ground for the PSU. It may be required in some cases, but I just set up today that's hanging on the wall, so I doubt that's it. Could be wrong, though.
Yodums, I'm still stuck on the switch thing. But I did just think of something else I've not seen mentioned. Did you check the rear of the PSU to make sure the 115/230 switch is in the right position?

Now I see THREE threads, what's up? AMD cpu's, Intel cpu's, Gen Hardware....
What's up? You are lucky Shadow isn't here...

Yes the switch is correct... If it wasn't the system would at least get power and boot up.

No problem, but I am just afraid that Shadow is going to come home drunk and ban you... ;) Heh heh.
Seriously, I understand, I hope you can resolve your problem, I don't think I would be of much help at this point...too much scotch...
If the board is out of the case, put in one stick of ram, vid card and of course the heatsink. Plug in the power supply and see if the board will post. If not try changing the ram, then the vid card. If it still wont post then you tell me.

I tried that before no work..
Heres from what I posted in the other section...

Trust me on this guys.
The motherboard is in the case properly.
This computer was bought 2.xx something years ago and it has been working fine till this day.
Grounded yes it is defintely grounded..
I did start from scratch with the motherboard grounded.
It did not work unfortunatly... we'll bring it to the shop tomorrow and get it checked out.
Lets see heres what I did..
From the evening the computer entered my house:
My old computer was dead and I was mainly sure it was the cpu I swapped the CPU from my brothers case which was a P3 500mhz Katmai Slot into my computer no boot. I put it back in my brothers case it booted.
Then I took my slotket with the Celeron chip put it in my brothers case did not work.
OK I repeated what I just did about 2x then I concluded that something like the motherboard, slotket, or chip fried and took things down with it.
OK I told my brother that I needed a new motherboard and chip and a ATX case since mine was KTX to get everything working again. He briefly explained to me that the economy is not strong this year and things were put to hold and I could keep his computer and he'll use his labtop.
Man I didn't want to start taking things from him because I broke my stuff, but I had no choice ok I said, "OK.." He said that don't upgrade the computer anymore and just keep everything the way it is working. I followed up with the line "Yes, I was planning to do that."
I started the "move-out" from my computer to his computer meaning I took parts that were better from my comp to his comp.
I started with the ram. In total 512ram was in and was booted.
Took out the power plug(or I think) and then I added either my video card or my 52x cd rom. I think it was the video card first and then I tried to turn it on. Not working since it did not turn on I suppose I left the power in there and then as I took my video card out to put in his the system turned on for no reason as I pressed the switched like 1 min ago. I pulled the plug quick and then from there I tried switching the card no boot.
And from that moment my system would not boot as a whole.
Motherboard led shows power is going to the motherboard.
I tried reinstalling the panel switches to the motherboard again.
Till now nothing has worked and my next option is bringing it to the shop.
If you have anymore suggestions help.

Its always something really stupid that you wouldnt even think of, that always happens to me, then my friends with no expirience with computers comes over and is like, "shouldnt it be plugged into the wall?" and there ya go, so just take a breather it sounds like your real ****ed, computers and and angry moods dont agree, thats why hardly any women like computers ;)
But if nothing works then it can be a dead Motherboard, it has happened to me plenty of times.
