Ok... I borrowed my cousins 80 gig Western Digital hard drive to try and fix it... the problem is that it won't identify it in ANY program as having more than 10 gigs of space... this includes fdisk. The drive is unformated and unpartitioned. I dl'd a program called gwscan and it ran a test... the test started out saying there were 23000 cylinders... when in fact there are over 160,000! The test said that the drive had NO errors. It got to 100% (23000) and kept on going up to the full 160,000+ cylinders and the final test code was 0000... meaning no errors. His and my bios' both say it has maximum capacity of 80 gigs... but fdisk is another story. My sys specs are in my sig. Please help:)
*edit* I also ran an option in gwscan to "write 0's to the drive"... Gateway said this would clear everything up and blah blah blah:p well it ran for 8 hrs!! finished and still nothing:confused:
