I am looking to upgrade my network from 10/100-802.11g to gigabit/802.11n.

I have been reading the reviews on Newegg and Linksys seems to be getting rather poor scores in this area, as compared to Trendnet and D-Link. I would like some advice and reccomendations from the community as to what you would suggest as ideal equipment. Please keep in mind that money IS an object; I am not looking to spend over $200 for a Router/switch + 1 802.11n PCI card. Thanks!

The problem with going with 802.11n is that it is still in draft form. The 802.11n standard is said to be finalized in November of 2008, but that is not to say that current 802.11n draft routers and NICs can simply be updated by a firmware update. If you buy now you may be stuck with obsolete hardware. If I were you I would hold off on buying 802.11n devices till after the standard is finalized.

n is too expensive IMO. For one machine that will probably only need access once in a while, go with g. Not worth the money otherwise.

I appreciate the responses thus far. I hadn't considered the possibility of 802.11n draft becoming obsolete when the specification gets its RFC approved. I wonder if such approval will add to the value of such devices (with the apporved standard), causing the price to increase until the market is well flooded. I suppose I can hold off and see where the market/technology goes.
