hey guys, i just found out today that VIA came out with a cpu called "Sammel" or something, at 1 Ghz.......is this any good?
its very cheap.

i was reading some computer ads, and saw a system with this cpu in it....only $250 CDN !!!

they didn't have a hp, but the cpu name is VIA SAMUEL2, 1 GHz, and the mobo is called VIA Vt133

There are advantadges to these chips. Well, there's only one really. The fact that it runs really cool. I mean, it only needs a heatsink. No fan needed.

Cyrix (VIA) has passed the "CPU mimicing a space heater" award to AMD...

They are also built on the .15 micron process I believe. But they are slower than dirt. They are great for laptops and automobile based MP3 systems.

its a terribly slow chip. if you think intel devalued the mhz with the p4 then you havent seen a via chip. man are they are slow. hopefully one day via will get on the ball and become a true player.

yup i was playing with Sandra and i realized that a Via-Cyrix 667 mhz was on par with a Pentium 233MMX.....
