View Full Version : Slow raid performance..
Hi all I am experiencing very mediocre-slow raid performance right now... the HD’s are 2 ata100 40gb Maxtor’s in a raid-0 on XP Pro, my question is..I am running the NTFS file system..is this what could be slowing me down? If so next time I format should I go back to fat32, or is it going to be less stable? Thanks in advance!

take NTFS any opportunity you can. It's not only more efficient, but far more secure.
If you are using Sandra to run benchmarks, I've seen all to many times just what a horrible bench program it is for RAID.
What you may consider is HDTach. This is supposedly the benchmark standard for arrays. Read something about HDTach here (http://www.extremetech.com/article/0,3396,s%253D1082%2526a%253D1412,00.asp?kc=ETNKT01 07KTX1K0000361) or pick up vers 2.61 here (http://strony3.wp.pl/wp/jaceek2/HTACH261.EXE)
