Look at these bad boys... I saw them and my jaw dropped... If only games could start handling massive multi threaded processing power, we could see real time physics, tree movements, grass movement, even the hairs of my nose as I blow your brains out and let out that breath could be calculated...

Of course these are not for video displaying, I don't even know why they bother putting a video adapter on them.

Im actually surprised they play games... their actually for CAD and massively multi threaded applications.

And for anyone that wants to get one, http://www.compusa.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3501279&Sku=P56-5600&SRCCODE=PGCMPUSA&CMP=OTC-PRICEGRABBER. Just make sure to buy a pair for SLI ;)

all it is is a sooped up 8800gtx with more ram... it uses the G80 core and has a bios that is designed for CAD drawing and rendering of the sort.

wasn't there a mod to turn the regular cards into their quadro version a while back? i'm not saying with the 8xxx series but with the 6 or 7 ones.. or am i dreaming things?

Yep, you can just flash them with their counterparts BIOS and get a full fledged Quadro card. It also works vice-versa, so you could have a 8800GTX 1.5GB card ;)

It is actually designed with additional features that are there for running thousands of threads at once... I wouldn't be surprised if it is related to the 8800gtx, but its definitely different...

LOL yeah, 1.5gb GTX, but with a $3000 price tag Ill just get 2 normal 8800GTXs for SLI thank you very much :)

thought so... :) the other way around would be great except for the price tag.. might as well get 2 9800 GX2 or even 3... i would say..

that card is made for a specific niche market... thus why they can charge so much.

Yeah, same reason Adobe charges so much for dreamweaver, photoshop, all that stuff (adobe bought out macromedia right?) because 99% of the market has no need for it, and the 1% that does is willing to spend the big $$$.

Got some linkage?

I would love to have a $2k Quadro FX 4600 for one fifth or less the going price.

as far as I know, you can't do that with more modern cards. It was fairly easy with the 6800-series, but as of the 7800s, none of them are moddable. Even if you can get the Quadro drivers to load, you still won't be able to get the performance gains associated with Quadros.
