That coolers prety old, my 2 80mill fans do the job much better than that can.

looks REALLY restrictive.

pretty thick too, you would have thought that they would have left the center (excluding a possible cross brace) in but dropped to screen or similar for the finger guard.

It moves enough air to keep memory running at 2.3V cool. Sure you can put some 100CFM fans over your memory, but it doesn't make impact when it comes to overclocking for most dimms.

This brings me to ask a good question... Why doesn't a motherboard company create a motherboard where the DIMM slots are parallel to case airflow?

that looks cool, but i've always been told that the sticks, even at a VDIMM of 2.1v do not build up enough heat to warrant a cooler, perhaps other than the factory heat spreaders that may come with it.

GEFORCRADEON.

It is because the RAM needs to be as close the the CPU/NB or the signals get too weak, this is pretty much it if i can remember.

Correct.

Same reason why its difficult to get the 2nd PCI-E slot to run 16x

Pfft. Get some phase cooled DIMM coolers and then we can talk.

Umm, cases would have to be redesigned to make them usable.

From the funnel Im guessing thats more ln (maybe DI for the ram, but yeah, close enough :)

what he said, it has to do with the layout of the board for the bets signal and such.

how ever many server boards are done like that

It's all about the signals and trace lengths

There are great reviews say they knock temps down 10c . Getting a one next week. I have concern for air restriction my heat sink carries 2 120mm fans on top.

If you want to cool your ram really nice get 2 80m fans and stick them on there, its quite and effective.

yeah it works a little better.. but you can only get them to run so cool.. besides, 2 fans strapped together look fugly. ive had the xtc for awhile, since it came out i think, it works ok. keeps me rams cool.

That OCZ product looks very air restrictive. While I like the idea, the implementation could be better.

I bought this cooler a while back, i put it in a couple days ago. It has decent air flow. It helped me get my CPU to 4.5ghz with the ram at 2.3v. Well, none the less, it looks nice. But i can tell, my ram definitely runs cooler.

I have the corsair Dominator cooler and am really happy with it. I feel that it really helps create some needed airflow around the motherboard and memory. I like the fact that now I can keep any sticks cool without having to add heatspreaders and stuff. Just pop in the memory and clip on the fans :D

Yea, Abit came out with a plastic one that clips on for their Fatal1ty line of boards..I did a build with the AA8XE Fatal1ty but never used the cooler, as the guy does not know the first thing about clocking...I wonder if I can get him to send it to me...I could use it to push my ram.
The OCZ unit looks great....so does that ram $79.00 after rebate? sweet.
