I am starting my first completely modded case and I was wondering whether I should paint first or cut out my holes first? I was also wondering what grade of paint is ideal for cases?

Thanks,

CUT FIRST!!!

You dont want to chance chipping the paint when you cut into that case.

I dont know what type of paint to use.

Well, idealy you would use automotive paint, much harder and more chip/scratch resistante than spray paint. Thats only an options if you have access to a paint gun or airbrush though. Otherwise just use spray paint. You can get clear coat in spraycans, that should help keep it from chipping too. If you dont lan party though, and you comp just sits on your desk forever, its not very critical. Mine has scratches and stuff on the corners from hauling it in the car and all, time to repaint i guess:rolleyes:

cut on the inside of the case so if u accidentally go off course, u won't be able to see it. then paint with an automotive paint remembering to sand in between layers. then polish it and ur're done. BTW, what color are u thinking of using?

I'm thinking of either going with metallic silver or flat black

Go for both, my case is currently black, but im thinking about adding some sliver to it, maybe the side panels in sliver. Black ans silver shoulr look sweet together.

silver is nice, but very very hard to get right. I am a big fan of the supergloss black or the matte black. Looks very (and i do hate to use this word) elite, and its much easier to get right.

Matte black looks great and doesn't require a lot of work.

Krylon Rust-Tough enamel isn't expensive, is fairly chip-resistant and doesn't require primer.
