Ive been useing a DD double 5.25 bay res for a few months now, and the seam on the back of it leaks now! there very small drops (like takes 5 - 10 min for one to drop) Right now I have a chunk of paper towel under there right now because its the middle of the night and I dont have time to repair it. Theres nothing electrical directly below it anyways (except the cdrom, which is unplugged and has the paper towel on top of it).

Anyways this kinda ticks me off, but after reading alot about bay res (after I bought it) it seems its no surprise that it leaks. First off im looking to repair it, I just need to know what compound to use even if its just a temp fix till I can buy a new one.

As for a new one, what would you recomend for a res. and no I dont want to use a T-line.

thanks in advance

You could try epoxy, but I wouldn't want to risk it if it were my system. As for a replacement I would go with a swiftech micro res.

just a thought, but line with shower/bathroom caulking.. comes in white and clear and probably many more. found at hardware stores.. pretty cheap and made for water sealing. you can email the guys at Danger Den also, they are pretty helpful.

Another bayres bites the dust...

It is poorly made reservoirs that give them a bad name. I make my own out of 1/4" cast acrylic with IPS #3 solvent weld and have yet to have a leak, and I pressure test hooked up to the kitchen sink at 40psi or so.

The best temporary solution you are probably going to find is aquarium silicone sealant which can be had at any hardware store. I t is made to seal aquariums and works very well. But I would only do this temporarily as if this joint is going bad, others may follow.

As with any acrylic, make sure you are not running anything that has alcohol in it in your loop.

I also recommend the Swiftech Microres. Cheap, dependable, and effective.
