HELP.... RAID and HDD SIZE question

i have a msi raid mobo with xp1700. can anyone tell me if setting up the raid function will truly increase performance for gaming? Also if i set up raid is it better to use small hdd's (say 20mgb or 30 mgb) or will the IBM 60's i already have work fine. I also want to push the drives to maximum later.

my friend has two 60 gb ibm deskstars, and its the fastest thing ever. yes, it helps for gaming, and with smaller hdds, thats not really true to my knowledge. i say get another 60gb, and RAID 0 them...
