Ok, i'm lookin at a 24x burner. I dont know much about burners, and what are the details on what to look for. So i figured i'd ask you guys.:
* 24x write, 10x rewrite, 40x read
* Firmware upgradable
*supports digital audio output (SPDIF)
* EIDE interface
* OPC technology boosts recording reliability
* 2MB data buffer memory provided
* CDRW-EL-24X Cd-Rewriteable Drive
-------------------------------------------------
thats what it shows at the site. and the price (which i think is phenominal), is $80.00 bucks!!!

is that good bad, and is that 2MB buffer slow, or too low or what?

yes that's a good burner. I'll give this post a 1 in a bazillion chance of remaining here for more than a little bit before it gets moved to the proper category, though!

Yes 24x is probably the one you want. It'll do udma, and you should be able to find it on sale for around $100 or less.

looks good, but it doesn't mention anything about having burnproof technology or buffer underrun protection.

What brand is it. Newegg.com has a LiteOn 24*10*40 for a very similar price and the light on is an excellent drive.

I haven't heard of them. I would get the LiteOn 24X drive from Newegg. Its a great drive and there are a lot of reviews of it around. http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?submit=manufactory&catalog=5&manufactory=1336&DEPA=1
