The psu on my computer died some months ago and I have been running it on a generic one which means no ocing. It is a old system now and I cannot justify spending too much on a psu but at the same time I don't want to buy something right now that won't work if i build a new system in the next year or so. Do you guys have any suggestion on the $100 and below category?

Corsiar 520w, if you can find it at low price with rebate. There should be a lot psu's that meet you needs.

meionm,

That rig may not be ATX2, it could be an older ATX power supply. Let's get him to check it.

ATI,

Can you post a photo of the power supply label? Does it say ATX2 compliant?

Well my mobo is a Abit IC7 and it uses a 20 pin mobo plug, I have been out of the game for a while, but ATX2 is the one with 24 pins for the mobo plug right?

Ati,

Yes, sounds like you need the older ATX 20 pin power supply. I'm sure NewEgg has them but I haven't looked. Fortrons would be a good choice like you have (had) now. See if there is something similar to your model number at about the same size and you're good to go. They won't be expensive at all.
