yes, download a program such as NVMAX (ww.nvmax.com) that will allow you to change the core speed (the gpu) and the ram speed (the memory on the video card) raise it 5-10 mhz then check if there is artifacting in 3dmark2001 if not raise it up again, keep doing that till it artifcts or crashes the computer....
Ok I downloaded the hack, and now when I go into advance settings, there is a tab that says Clock Frequencys?
And down below it says Core CLock Frequency and Memory clock Frequency?
Well so far it is up to 270/490,seems ok,should I go farther, and what will this acomplish..

a higher benchmark dont expect much higher fps in actual games....
Then what is the point?

Dave,
Increase the core and memory slowly like 5mhz at a time and run 3dmark2001 each time to check for artifacts to assure that the card can handle the speeds.
You ask why? Many video card manufacturers Underclock thier video cards and some include overclocking software bundled into the software cd assuming the end user will overclock it anyway.
Another reason is look at it like this, why do they have CPU's that run at 2Ghz? Your buddy may buy a 1.5 Ghz and ask you why do you have a 2Ghz. :) Maybe your friend can overclock his 1.5 ghz cpu to run at 2ghz and he paid a whole lot less than you:p
Latest Pricewatch prices:
$395 - Pentium 4 2.0GHz
$136 - Pentium 4 1.5GHz
Point well taken Thanks:D
Ok were do I get this 3d mark 2001?
You can get 3DMark2001 from MadOnion's website (http://www.madonion.com)
and Silversinksam has a VERY good point about CPUs.... a while back my bud got himself a 1ghz P3, he paid $300 for the chip... I bought a 800mhz P3, I paid $120 for the chip.... my chip runs fine @ 1ghz, in fact... according to Intel, all 700-1000mhz P3 CU-MINE chips are essentially the same, they just have different set multipliers running at different bus speeds.... I can take my chip to 1.4ghz if I wanted to, but I need a better mobo first :) (it's not even the chip's fault!)
oops, running on..... and on...
My CL GeForce 2 Ultra ran for over a year overclocked to 500 with only a couple extra case fans. It was still running perfect when I replaced it with a Leadtek GeForce 3 Ti500. I personally use Coolbits to overclock. Get it at http://www.geforcefaq.com
Ok here is the score for my default setting, 2429.
Now I do not understand this, sorry for being ignorant on this, but I am learning, this was the default setting of the card, now is the lower score better?
Because the higher I go the lower the score,I must be missing something..
What exactly am I looking for,I don't understand some of the terms used, sorry:rolleyes:
Ok I think I get it,800X600-32 score is 4700 @ 270-479 and 4739 @ 275-484,but when I went up 5 more mhz the score went down so I left it @ 275-484,is this good??

first of all do ALL your 3dmark2001 benching at 1024x768x32, most people expect this....and also the reason the score goes down is becase of instability...

Card should score higher as my 7500 gets over 5000 @ 1024x768 but there is a difference b/w our systems, pc133 ram vs ddr ram but also he has a faster cpu .
Overclocked Ultras are getting 5000 to 6500 based on madonion.com database

btw nice card:D

stop dont run it that high then your video card i telling you that it doesnt like the oc and its dangerous to keep it when there a graphical anomlaies...
Ok I stopped, and I took it back til I saw just clean vidio,it is sharp and clear at 4388,dose this sound ok?
Is there anything eles I can do to get it to go higher, how do I get it to run better than it is now,it is @4388,some say it should be able to run@5000 or more, will I need DDR for that?

i recommend getting a new mobo like a a7m266 or a7v266, also if u close as many background things as u can 3dmark will raise like 100 marks. and also oc ur cpu with like a glaciator or a sk-6 with delta. with that advice u should get a score of like 5200. and try putting a good fan on ur gpu like the blue orb or crystal or if u could the orange.
New MB?
Are you serious,I just got this one, under the recomendation of computer gurus around the forums.
May I ask why I need a new MB?
Because if I do,if there is something about this one,PLEASE let me know because I want a GREAT setup so please be honest I can take it:D

i personally think that the ali magic chipset is a piece of crap. and with the ddr and sdr ram crap is dum it uses up resources and searching time for ur comp. if u want a good ddr mobo get one dedicated with a chipset made for ddr like the amd761. i recommend a a7m266 or a7v266 or go with a msi one i forget the name but it has raid and stuff.
