The 360 list is nice... if Gears 2 and Too Human (which has been delayed INFINITELY come out on time.) Most of the PS3 games (Haze, GT5, etc...) were supposed to come out last year so they should be EXTRA polished by now.
Nothing ON EARTH is going to touch MGS4 and Final Fantasy XIII though. That's when you'll see all those PS2 owners who have yet to buy into the next gen come out.

As good as GT5 is and looks it will only hit big with the racers... not everyone likes racing like they do FPS...

This is console gaming. IIRC FPS on a console is new-skool...

Yeah but he's right. I mean I personally don't like racers. But I remember living in Tokyo just before GT 3 came out and they had this kiosk where you could play it at Bic Camera near where I worked... I was blown away. I played it EVERY DAMNED DAY. And since modding was so difficult it MADE ME pick up a Japanese PS2 (I already had an american one) and GT3. So if there was no GT3 I never would've gotten the system.
So don't underestimate the power of a GREAT racer...

(*ahem*) Everyone likes FPS?Exactly what I was thinking....
As good as GT5 is and looks it will only hit big with the racers... not everyone likes racing like they do FPS...I'm referring to games that will most likely be the best selling for the console. I won't be getting MGS4, but that doesn't mean it won't be one of the best sellers ;)

These titles are definiltey exclusive, but the question is.... for how long? I mean some of the titles, are they going to be released cross platform later??

It seems that cross platform games are slowly disappearing.

Well, I've got the 360, PS3 and Wii sooooooo ME FTW!
I've always liked the 360 the best, but I'm greatly warming up to the PS3..... The Wii however
By Halo Chronicles, I assume they mean Halo Wars and future games with the Halo tag?
or is Halo Chronicles some game I haven't heard of?
As for timed exclusives, the only ones I predict that will be timed are:
Ninja Gaiden 2
Splinter Cell: Conviction (Well, I hope at least!)
Haze
But a few games on the list I don't know things like who owns what IP, and so on, so I really can't judge.

I can't wait to see what they are doing with Banjo Kazooie on the 360, loved those games on the n64.

I wouldn't call Resistance 2 a system seller, by virtue of Sony's already healthy lineup for 2008.
It's also a shame that Ninja Gaiden 2 won't be considered one - it is currently perhaps my most anticipated title of 2008, even over MGS4.

Err what?
By that logic, you can also say "not everyone likes FPS like they do racing".
Some prefer racing over FPS. Some prefer RPG (FFXIII) over the prior two. The simple fact is, each of those listed in those genres will likely make some "on the fence" people purchase a system.
My priorities:
FFXIII
GT5
MSG4
R:RoM
Although, they dont exactly release in that order. :(

OK not everyone... but you have to admit that most video game sales seem to be trending towards FPS... Which is why the market is being flooded with them....
I am so excited about Gears of War 2 and Fable 2, but I'll probably get Alan Wake for my computer.

Ninja Gaiden suffers from the same problem Prince of Persia does: "Been there, done that."
They made the mistake of overexposing both franchises (Ninja Gaiden, Ninja Gaiden Black, Ninja Gaiden SIGMA...) and gaming has sort of moved on since those games were released. (I really liked the demo for Tenchu, but I couldn't even be bothered to find out when it was coming out.)
Ninja Gaiden was the ONE REASON i might've considered getting the original X-box (of course I never did... because nothing THAT UGLY shall ever grace Rainless Mansion.) But I think I'd pass on Ninja Gaiden 2 even if I still had a 360.
In a year that sees GTA IV, Fable 2, Gears of War 2, and Alan Wake... Ninja Gaiden doesn't stand a chance.
Hmm… shorter as the 360 list is, the ones there spark more interest with me nowadays.
Once upon a time, the Final Fantasy title would have been the "can't miss" item, but I've pretty much moved on from the series entirely. GT5 is good, but it's still just a racing game that I've basically played over and over, so I'm not rabid about it. I've never given a rat's behind about any of the Metal Gear games, so…meh.
Alan Wake and Halo Wars are the most interesting sounding names to me that don't end in a number. (sequel) Also, I haven't yet worn out Ninja Gaiden, so I'm seeing some potential value there.

Same can be said for the GTA games and FPS games. Their basically the same "been there done that". Ninja gaiden is a highly anticipated game, it just doesn't have a large enough fan base to make it a system seller. In fact, NG 2 can be easily similar to God of War 2, just as it can be the same been there done that with DMC.
So out of the list, I would say
NG2, and Fable 2 would be the only two that really interest me. If I had a ps3, then GT5 and MGS 4 and FF13 would be the only ones I would actually get.

I think the biggest on the list for me is God of War.

I will be playing games from both side though.

XBOX 360
Ninja Gaiden 2
Gears of War 2
Fable 2
PS3
Metal Gear Solid 4 (SYSTEM SELLER)
LittleBigPlanet
Resistance 2
Killzone 2
Motorstorm 2
God of War III
Twisted Metal
I'm surprised no one mentioned Prototype or Fallout 3.
I'm glad I have all three consoles. I've abandoned PC gaming. I was getting tired of constantly upgrading my video card and I just like the console experience better (I'm still getting used to a controller for FPS though) . In fact my next computer will probably be a Mac. Vista blows and I don't want any part of it.
:bang head
I didn't know Fallout 3 would be on the consoles. I don't like the sound of that.

Yeah, umm, no. Even if it were, it wouldn't be done by Kojima (who has said so himself), meaning you get a crappy port.
You do however, get one sick collectors edition... oh wait, its the normal game!

I'll probably end up buying a PS3 just for MGS (amongst others, such as MGO and Gran Turismo), but the game I'm looking most forward to is Banjo Threeie.
God, I just can't wait. Kazooie and Tooie were such awesome platformers.
There are some very good titles listed there. I really think though that many of them will eventually go multi plat. For me GoW2 and Fable 2 are big on my list. If I had a PS3 of course I would get MGS4, but I will wait for it to come out for 360 :P. I have been playing Forza 2, so I probably would skip GT5 though (if I had a ps3) I was a huge fan back in the PSone days.
I still do not get the hype behind Little Big Planet though, seriously I have seen many gameplay videos and I just think, "man that looks boring as crap." I dunno maybe I just don't "get it"

You assume that I would not buy the game if it came on 20 CDs, you assume incorrectly :P
I would so buy it, and deal with disc swapping, I would im dead serious. If it saves me $350 to avoid buying a whole different console.
Kojima has stated that a 50GB Blu-Ray didn't have enough space for MGS4.
So lets take 50GB, divided by DVD's (~8gb). That's over six DVD's... all for a toned down, not as glorious version.
But, its not happening either way, so I guess there is no reason to worry.

You forget that the 360 does VERY well with compression and as of now they're not even using any on the PS3. In 3 years or so when they do, we should get some really awesome games.

Very near future? I doubt it - Konami's just allergic to compression. Most other developers seem to have no problem with the 360 so far. I'd say we're still a few years away. Besides, most titles aren't exactly designed with the same epic size and scope of MGS4, either.

Not just Konami. All of the PS3 Devs are saying "we've got all this space and nothing to do with it, screw the compression" especially the ported games.

Does the 360 have that much of a future?
The 360 was released 4 years and 7 days after the Xbox.
That would put the 720's release date at 29/11/09
599 days away
They only officialy announced the 360 7 months before they went on sale.
In all seriousness I'd be surprised if the Xbox720 wasnt out by summer 2010
The Game Cube had 5 years, as did the N64.
As far as I'm aware its only Sony who have made the mistake of promising to support a console for 10 years

I agree Domo, I think that by the time the PS3 is ramped up and has some really good stuff then MS will bring out something to blow it away. NOt dissing on the PS3, just syaing their 11 year plan was a bit overly optimistic if not foolhardy

Most games don't have all the cutscenes that Metal Gear Solid has. I don't think we'll see most games needing more than one dvd for awhile.

Yea I agree with that, I like to see a 4-5 year life span for consoles. Here's to hoping MS comes out with a new console before 2010.

I heard people saying that, but never read an article about it.
Well, Konami already said even with the 50Gb Blu-ray disc, it's not big enough to include all the data required for MGS4. They have to take something of the game in order to cramp in the data. I'm curious how are they going to work on a DVD base xbox.

Same can be said for the GTA games and FPS games. Their basically the same "been there done that". Ninja gaiden is a highly anticipated game, it just doesn't have a large enough fan base to make it a system seller.
Yeah. That's exactly what I said. Except that there's a reason WHY Ninja Gaiden doesn't have that fan base. GTA has a broader overall appeal. There's something in there for just about everyone. There's gunplay, melee, driving, flying, boat-ridding, motor cycle riding and... when all else fails... there's always a killer sound track.
It isn't just a FLUKE that GTA is more popular than Ninja Gaiden or that it's a system seller and Ninja Gaiden isn't. They have to GET that fanbase from somewhere. GTA was simply designed with a broader spectrum of gamers in mind.
