I am getting a 9800 GX2 and was wondering if this would be a decent PSU for it as well as future considerations? My current OCZ GXS 850 does not have native 8 pin connector and XFX informed me that adapters are unacceptable with this card.

Are there other PSU's worth consideration in that range?

I am callin BS on XFX for that. If you look at what the product ships with it comes with an adapter.

Heres the Newegg link so you can see.

Any PS worth its weight over 850 watts and 80% or better efficient should power it just fine. The silverstone looks ok. I am still partial to enermax and Pc Power and cooling but those both come with a higher price. If you want a good one that isn't gonna be much more expensive look at the Antec Quatro which retails for about $250 US.

Yeah.. but that adapter is Molex to 6-pin! Not 8-pin!

That said, your OCZ will be able to power the GX2 JUST FINE. Even if you do have to use a 6-pin to 8-pin adapter. The PCIe connectors are on their own rail on that PSU so you have about three times as much power per connector than you'd ever need.

Just get the card... get the adapter... or better yet, get the card with the correct adapter and not some useless Molex to 6-pin adapter.

I damn near bought that PSU based on what they told me, have it in the cart at $222.00 Canadian. Thanks for the heads up.
