So, it's time for me to return my 8800 Ultra which I'm currently water cooling. do I need to apply TIM and new pads to the stock cooler?
New TIM is no problem, but I'm hoping the old pads are good enough?
Just apply gpu TIM, screw the stock fan on and box it up??
thanks

Old pads should work ok as long as they don't have pounds of dust on them :)

i actually just RMAed my EVGA card, which ahd a water block on. I just sent the card out earlier this week, so they have not yet received it and commented.
however, one tech on the phone said to reapply thermal paste, while in an email, another evga tech said to just place a note stating there isnt any TIM.
i, personally, just put a small dab of AS ceramique everywhere for the heck of it, even though it doesnt help for the ram chips, since without pads, there isnt any contact with the sink.
