i got this email, hope i'm not the only one lol.

We are contacting you because in the past you indicated that you would like to be part of Microsoft's Usability Studies. This is an invitation to participate in a Microsoft Research user study online. In exchange for your participation in this half hour study, we will provide you with a gratuity of Microsoft software. Gratuity options include:

* OneNote 2007
* Streets & Trips 2007
* Office Mac 2008
* Vista Business Edition
* Vista Home Premium Edition
* Expression Blend
* Visio Professional 2007
* Money Plus Home and Business

What is this study about? This is a study about how people create online profiles such as those in Facebook and MySpace. During this study you will create an online profile and complete several personality measures. We hope that you will take part in our study so that we can make social interactions on the web more enjoyable and interesting.

Who are we? We are research scientists in the VIBE Group at Microsoft Research. We are interested in the ways people represent themselves in online environments.

Note that we can only send software to US citizens and those who are 18 years and older. By choosing to participate in our study, you are acknowledging that you are 18 years or older and a US citizen. Begin the study by clicking below.

If it doesn't come from a Microsoft e-mail and doesn't link to a Microsoft website, it's EXTREMELY unlikely that it is actually from Microsoft.

I couldn't find any real info on the root address either (msresearch.us).

looks legit, some people on SD got it as well, it was only open to certian people on their mailing lists. i'll see if i can dig more on it. afaik they only let people they sent emails to for the survey :(

how many of you have actually been to a survey site before...? True, it doesn't look like a legit Microsoft website, but it does follow the general layout of most survey websites.

I pulled up msresearch.us under centralops.net, not sure but it looks somewhat legit.

So because the original sender of the email responds to you and states that it is real - that's enough proof for you? That's like responding to a Nigerian email asking if they really need your money. Perhaps the Internet has made me too skeptical, but I don't buy it.

I've done testing with MS before. Last time I was there picked up a copy of Vista Home premium for my time! :D

the way it looks Vista will be dead in 2 months.(thnx Pop. Sci.) (for info) and windows 7 will be released 2 years ahead of its original:attn: launch date.
