View Full Version : @ idle seems hot..
With this thing just sitting with no load it is running 45C CPU Temp and 27 C on the Motherboard,is this too hot?
It gets up to about 50 to 55 C with a load,like running N4.
I have 5 fans two blowing in and 3 out,any sugestions?

sounds a little warm, what HSF are you running, and what kind of thermal compound?

Well it is a Cooler Master fan and heat sink, the heat sint in over sized compared to the stock heat sink that came with the CPU..
Which cpu are you using? I' m guessing that it' s the one in your sig. I heard that XPs get a little hot. I also have the same problem. I have a Duron 900 and at idle it is 38 C. I am using a Volcano 6cu, and scraped that little thermal pad and used thermal grease. I am using the mobo monitor and Sandra to read the temps.
Same with me,I haven't used the the thermal grease yet,but yes it is the one in my signature.
I use the MB temp also, and sandra and they are both real close.
It seems sort of right to me.
CoolerMaster aren't good for heatsinks not for high end systems.
So according to your lastest post your NOT using thermal grease? Use it!!!
You'll notice way better heat transfer.
Ok I will give it a shot, what kind of fan and heat sink should I get?
Heatsink will vary do you plan to overclock heavy, or just start mild?
Well I just over clocked a bit and it seems ok ,seems stable,it is running 1511mhz,and it was 1401mhz,just changed the multiplier...
But temps seem the same 46C CPU 28C MB

46 seems good don't take the risk of going higher till you get some better cooling.
Did you unlock it if you did then changing the multiplier won't help..
How do you unlock it,I just changed it in the bios 10.5 Clock speed and 144 FSB...

you didnt change the multiplier, you changed the fsb to 144. also, I had the a7a266, and it always gave me a high temp. get a temp probe and tape it beside your cpu core, you cant trust the in socket thermistor very much..
