Now that that is out of the way, I too am excited for MGS4 if for no other reason than it means someone in this freaking building will finally bring a PS3 over and I can try one out.
On another note, I never finished any of the Metal Gear games I played and don't know the story very well. Can anyone point out to me someplace on the web that has a good and simple explanation of the story thus far? Please don't say wikipedia. Already read that but it feels like Im missing stuff.

It's a bundle, what's the big deal? Personally I wouldn't want the huge Solid Snake picture on the top of my PS3. Unless somebody was jus trying to be artistic and that is supposed to be a reflection..... Even if it is, then it would be nowhere near as ridiculous looking as this:

I'll stick to my black PS3 as it matches everything in my current entertainment center. The LE PS3 looks nice, but I don't know if I would want to look at that color for the next few years.

@fudge- The peopl who would buy the bundle are people like me that have been waiting to buy a PS3 until now and plan on getting MGS4. Besides I having a different than normal looking console is a big plus in my book.

Actually Snake's picture isn't going to be on top of the PS3. It's just going to say "Metal Gear Solid 4" on the side somewhere. What you're seeing is just a reflection of the Snake figure.

No. I'm pretty sure its a copy of the Japanese one, which was a 40gb.

As for the the 80GB, its just a reflection. And rainless, I don't think its going to say anything special on it - I'm pretty sure its just a typical 80GB packed in with MGS4 and a Dual Shock 3.

I don't think there is a "flat black" bundle, anywhere. The only black is Piano Black, which is sold nearly everywhere. It's the one with the gloss look. It's going to be sold in Japan and the US.

My understanding is that only the 40Gb does not have backwards compability to PS2 games. There are still some PS2 games not playable with the 60gb and 80Gb version.

Upon (re)reading (carefully this gime) the article from playstaion blog, there are 2 versions. 80Gb will be the glossy black ones. The 40Gb is the gunmetal limited edition. I have to thank IAACP for clearing that up.

Lets cut them some slack. That's why it is call Beta, which is technically still in testing phase. They are probably trying to figure out the scale of the traffic, and work out any problems and glitches.

I believe even with the mighty xboxlive, didn't halo 3 server crash too because of the heavy traffic?

Well as I understand it the new 80GB has PS2 backwards compatibility and the new CPU that runs cooler. I'm thinking of upgrading for more HD space and the CPU that runs cooler and sucks less juice. The DS3 and MGS4 is just a bonus.
