Hi guys,
I have a question on how to monitor my hard drive. I already have HW Monitor software, but apparently I am unable to see any of my 3x150GB Raptor in RAID 0 inside that software.

Is there anything that I have to do to enable this??:confused:

Many times, if the drives are in a RAID array, they can not be monitored. You could try Speedfan, but most likely they will not show up.

I am curios as to why that happened?? I will try speedfan when I get home.

Thank You.

when your drives are in RAID, you will not be able to utilize SMART to get their temp readings.it doesnt matter what program you use, you wont see what it is

Thx guys.:) At first I was wondering where in the world is my "SMART" feature in my ASUS Maximus Formula board. Now I finally know why.:)

D-Temps is able to show the temps of my RAID1 array. Use google to find the utility and see if it works for you.

I figured as much. I suggested to Intel that they incorporate reporting of SMART values (including temperature) into the next version of their Matrix Storage Console app. and they thanked me for my suggestion. We'll see.

Hopefully they are going to do more than just thanking you.:)

Try this:

I was checking out the Performance Index software that came with my mobo, and found this on their site. I have not tried it...yet.

A raid1 array will show temps because they are actually seperate disks. Raid0 will show individual temps only if the controller supports it. Usually this works only on hardware raid0 cards.

Oh.. What a pity, I guess Intel ICH9R do not support monitoring this then?

it never worked with my previous RAID1 setup on my DFI board. i havent seen it work in any RAID setup

most controlers dont support the monitoring of smart data while in raid...

One way to monitor temps is to temporarily turn off raid in the bios, boot up off a cd with a smart monitoring program and check temps... then restart and turn raid back on...
