I have an old IBM e2n computer. It has a AMD k62 266 proc and I upgraded it to 128megs of ram. It has the ALi M1542/M1543 system chipset. This info is thanks to the IBM website.
My question is, Can I buy a new 60 gig hdd and put it in there and run the box as a local and internet fileserver? Will the system chipset support drives that large? If not, what is the largest drive the chipset will support? Also note that I CANNOT buy a PCI IDE adaptor card because I have no free PCI slots. This computer only comes with 1!!! And that one is being used by the ethernet card. Speed really isnt TOO much of a concern, as long as it is not dog slow. I just need the system to be able to handle 60 gigabytes worth of files. Thanks.
