I'm only seeing 765. I really think those who join but don't put up at least 1 wu don't count.

I agree - I don't count the ones that don't do anything. Which reminds me - when I started my slow computer team I noticed with only 6 units finished I had already done more than 50% of total Seti members. With over 3 million members that means that over 1.5 million have less than 10 units completed. That's pathetic.

The other day my girlfriend finished her first WU, I checked her stats at berkeley and with just one WU you have reached the 65% percent of the population......That means that over 1,000,000 SETI@home project members have not finished at least 1 wu.

SAD, VERY SAD

It just goes to show you how many people have tried running Seti and decided that they didn't like it for one reason or another.

sometimes u'll need a little "movitation" to really get crunching, u know. something like...our team!!

i've signed up w/ SETI for almost 2 yr now. the first 15months i only have total of 'bout 25WU under my belt. that's before i join the team.....:)

I mean take myself for example. I had Seti running on 2 computers before I joined the team. Now after a year of being on the team I only have about 13 more computers... :D :D :D

Well, I know one of the new members... My friend (you remeber Jeremy, don't you??) went out and got annother of his friends signed up. Joined the team yesterday. Too bad he didn't go under my name :D

That's annother XP1600 crunching our way to number 1!

true, but some people want to help, just not to the degree that some of us go. They aren't willing to leave their computers on 24/7 and build farms just for SETI purposes. They probably have the screen saver version and turn the computer on when they need it and turn it off when they're done, so very little SETI work actually gets done. I can relate, for I was once the same way.

Still I managed to complete several hundred units in a year's time. Those 1.5 million people sound like they turn their computers on about once a month.

lol, good point. I joined the team a while ago and had only 1 work unit for a LONG time (like 6 months+ I would guess). I would just shut the computer off when I was done working on it. At the time, the computer was probably on twice a week and only for short periods, in which most of the time I was not in the screen saver.

Now I just leave it on all day til I go to sleep or til the noise bothers me too much, but I'd be willing to bet that those with 1 WU or less that have been on the team for a long time, are the same as me when I first started.
