What has been going on? I left the Team back on May 23 2001 to crunch for the seti team because I could cache wu's when I went on vacation and did not have to connect every 5 hrs. I have not been keeping up to date with what has been going on with folding and it now looks like you can cache wu's is that true? Also when I left for seti I had around 589 wu's but now I do not even see me in the stats at all. What happened there. If I can cache I will come back full time. Thanks.

Sorry, but there is still no caching as far as I have heard. I'm guessing you were running ver 1 of F@H. We're running on version 2 and the stats pages reflect what have been folded for that version only. I'm still relatively new but I trust if any of my info is wrong one of the senior members will correct me. Hope you give folding another try anyway. We could use the help :)

you sort of can, but not really. If you can't send a completed WU in for whatever reason it will save it and retry later and in the meantime D/L a new WU. It will only D/L one WU at a time so you can't cache mulitple WU's to work on for a week. You can however work on a WU and save the WU's that won't upload for a few days or until the get uploaded. So far Ver 2 has been a big improvement over ver 1. I used to use the console version only, but swapped over tot he graphical client so I could run it as a service and not have it cluttering up my workspace.

I went over to OCAU's forum a while back and they were talking about dumping many WU's all at once. That is, a few of them talked about uploading and downloading only once a week then their machines would chew on the data for all week. One guy even said that he had a couple of months worth of work that he was gunna dump.

I got an 850 Bird runnin at 995 that will eat one WU 'bout every 10 hours. Sure would be nice if I could download 3 or 4 days work and then let the machine go to it. Maybe they know something we don't.

NOTE: I'm useing The Brats 850 'cause I may have BBQ'd one of my 1gig Birds. Still workin on it. Damn these AMD's are touchy. Till now all I ever OC'd was Intel stuff. You can smack them 'round pritty good without hurtin um.

Oh well.
