I am wondering what are some really good headphones for less than, say, $50. The ones I got now are Philips HP550 and they sound great. How are Sennheiser? THey good? I've seen some for like $200 so they must be good. But I don't wanna spend that much.

Headphones and a mic or just pure headphones?

If you want good quality headphones Sony has really good ones! :p

Grado SR-60 around $75.00 or Grado SR-80 around $100.00. Be warned though, these cans will make you want to upgrade the audio source component(s) driving them, they sound that good.

Sony make popular ones and they're also great if you have portable players like MP3 and CD.

Heres a model I recommend for 29.99:

MDR-V250V

I'd be really careful shopping with that theory. You might end up with some really expensive trash (and there is some out there). Glad to se that someone recommended the Grado's! They are awesome for the money, though far from what I would consider cheap. And the previous poster is correct, they will find every flaw in your audio system.

I had a pair of Stax hooked to my system once. An individual woofer/mid/tweeter in each ear! (Stax likes to call them "earspeakers".) They had their own outboard amplifier (as they had a multi prong plug... none of that RCA crap). But alas, we're speaking of a different realm... $1600.00

Right now I've got a pair of $300 Sennheiser's hooked to my computer.
