Whats the limit on how hot an AMD socket A T-Bird athlon 1.2 before it will start to damage the chip? i am at exactly 1.5 gigs with air cooling and i havent even started to expirience any unstability, i havent even had to raise the voltage, and why didnt i have to unlock the prosessor to overlock it? oh yeah i am running at about 113F - 115F, that coming from about 102F - 106F at stock speeds, my multiplier is at 10 and my fsb is at 150
45-49 Full Load Should Be The Maximum With An Alternative HSF Rather Than The Stock AMD HSF...
50-59 Pretty Normal With Stock, Little Dangerous.
60-64 You should try to bring it down a little. Your in the danger zone, you could fry your chip.
65+ Better tune it down your chip is above 50% chance to get burned....

According to AMD whitepapers on Athlon operating temps:
Athlons die at 90c
Though going over 50c while OCing just isn't a good idea IMHO.

The reason you didn't have to unlock your CPU is you overclocked via the FSB and not the multiplier. If you would've overclocked via the multiplier then you might have had to unlock itsome even come unlocked like the one I have.

My systems all get unstable up around 50c so I try to keep them no higher than 45c at 100% load.
Mobo temp sensors vary somewhat in accuracy, so a few degrees either way won't make much difference. One of the final determinig factors for me is if the pc is stable.
One thing that may help your cpu run cooler is .......A shorter SIG!

When posting temps...please do it in C, not F. Makes it alot easier for the rest of us!!!
