View Full Version : finally got my stuff
finally got my stuff for a new wc setup
what i got is :
swiftec micro res
enzotech sapphire cpu block
swiftech mcp655 pump
mist rad mist240
a couple of mist fans 60m3 @ 15.5 db
and 4m of masterkleer hose about 12ft with 1/2 inch id and 11/16 od
what i'm gone be cooling with it is simply an amd athlon64 5600
it's a 125w one and sitting on a asus M2N-E deluxe mobo sitting in a chieftec dragon tower
mainly i'm after to get my computer quiet but also running at a lower temp since it's the one i have in the liveingroom
now my question
is this a rad worth going for or should i replace it ?
i'm asking since that's the only one i'm usure of
and of course if it is anything else i should think of plz let me know
any input is apreciated
kenneth
to be honest, I've never heard of the rad before now. I'd say if you already have it give it a go, see how your temps are compaired with current cooling for it.
Do you link to that mist rad and fans?
There are no 60cfm 15dba fans.
120.2 radiator shoud be sufficient for cpu only loop.
I have a couple of 120's that move 100ish cfm at only 16db, would recommend those over a 60cfm any day.
Sorry 110 at around 36ish, at 16 about 80ish, even at the 110 I can't hardly hear em. linky http://www.svc.com/y720ccd-25k1-gp.html

I'm pretty sure that the performance is nowhere near that at 16dBA. Maybe ~25dBA at 80CFM at best.
hi
looks like i can't find anything on mist for a manufacturer i'm kind of thinking that it's a different manufacturer that makes then specially for the shop here
hmmm i'm going by metric here and the 60 cubikmeters isn't more than just below 40 cfm
just did an calculation here
bummer
but still it can't perform worse than the old termaltake set that was on her
here is a link for the rad http://www.microplex.no/product.aspx?pid=MIST240&mcat=14s265
it's in norwegian so i don't know how much it will help
and here is for the fans http://www.microplex.no/product.aspx?pid=MISTKMF120H1VR&mcat=15s351
thanks for inputs so far
i'll come back with tems later when i have tested a little
figured i could run either prime 95 or the one in sisoft sandra i think it was
kenneth
I have them running in my pc, and they move close to 80cfm that low at about 17db, do mainly to the number of blades, a trash bag test (take a trash bag and seal it around the fan and see how fast it fills) runs just a hair slower than a fan I know to push 75cfm +-1cmf
That rad looks a lot like a primochill pro, which is based on old black ice tech, not the best, but it will work, those fans need to be replaced tho, need an high cfm with that style rad, plus a pain to clean
hi again
i've just been running everest for a little and it looks like it peaks out on 42c
just grabbed a pic an i hope it will show here
64292
on this pic it's been running for 1hr and 19min
i bet saxile is right when he's saying that i would get better temps with some higher cfm fans
edit :
wow got it working exept i didn't get everything on in that pic
and plz bare over with my spelling ;-))
Tip: press "print screen" or "prt sc", then open MSPaint, and press Ctrl+V, then save the picture. Its alot easier, gives us a better view, and everything is seen in the shot.
As for the temps, I think some better fans and a shroud would help. It also depends on what the ambient temperature is too though, if its hot there, then you might be doing ok.
hmmm didn't kow that thanks for the tip Diddyu
my ambient temp is around 24 -25c about 77f
yes i bet some better fans would do a bit since the ones that are on there now is definately not the best i found out
and probably the rad isn't of the better ones either but around here a black ice would be about 100usd so that will have to wait along with a new case for the computer
without a shroud the only space on the rad that isn't covered of the two fans is about 0,5mm or 0,019 inch
and for mounting in the case i mase a couple of holes in the right sidepanel so that they are sucking air outside and into the case
huh this became a long one ooowell doesn't hurt me to freshen up my english ;-)
but anywas
thanks for all inputs all it's apriciated :-))
Sounds about right to me, might squeeze another 4-5c with better fans, shrouds are overrated, don't help that much to justify the price, if you can get some high speed fans and a controller you could adust for performance and silence, 42c under load, althought full load I don't consider to be until 6 hours into the stress testing. But for what you are cooling that rad will do fine, I would change waterblock to d-tek before a new rad. Are you overclocked or are you stock currently with those temps btw.
hi again
i'm just going stock for now ( need to learn quite a bit more before i start oc )
give me some rock to blow up and i'll be just fine but pretty much of this here stuff is kind of greek to me
and yes i did leave the stress test on over night and it was the same temps
unfortenutly i forgot to follow diddyus tip and save the screenshot
here's a link to a test of the cpublock that i have http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=getarticle&number=7&artpage=3112&articID=627
and thanks again for advice and opinions
I know the block, but if you wanted the best temps then d-tek with nozzles is the way to go, course that's on the overclocking side, btw, what is your idle temp?
also for what you're doing, that block is just fine, as is the rad
hehe funny you should mention that one that's the one i wanted but it's kind of hard to get hold of here in norway unfortenutly :-(
or it could be me who havent looked at the right places around here
my idle temp is 36c
later on i guess i'm going for some oc but as it is now i'm going 10 to 16hrs day at work and doesn't really have the energy to start on it
hopefully it will calm down eventually at work and i can get started reading around and try out some overclocking
btw probably i will change the rad to an black ice or something like that in a month or two and maybe set this here one up in a loop for my gpu
thanks again
kenneth
np, I would try overclock on that rad before you spend money on another, those temps are just fine imho, you're with-in 10c of ambient temps, wouldn't even bother changing fans atm either.
hi again
just started running everest again here after changing the fans to a couple of tt fans i had laying around here it's a couple that is taken from a bigwaterset
second thing i did is lapping the cpu a little so now i can see the copper in the center and at the edges
so far what i can see is a little drop of load temp but pretty much the same idle templooks like it dropped from 42 to about 36
so i'm happy about that and glad i took the time to do it ;-))
