I do not think I have ever seen a grill on a heat sink fan, only on case fans.
You do not need one.

Can't hurt to have one. It'll keep wires (or fingers) from getting caught in the fan blades.

i won't use cpu fans without a grill after it sliced my thumb two days ago. Thank god it wasn't a delta.

Do you NEED one, no. Keep in mind that delta is pushing 68 cfm and spinning at @5700 rpm's, if a wire or your finger get in that fan, bad news man.

My Millenium Glaciator II has a Fan Guard, and I am happy with it.
I already broke a Fan Blade on a case fan when my hand touched it!! *OUCH*
Unless its a wimpy CoolerMaster fan then YES YOU DO NEED ONE.
Do you realise people have complained to Delta they have broke their fingers slipping them in the fans?
My cousin had a 7K Delta and he put his finger in there and it did not look pretty when it came out.
For your safety as well as what's in your comp safety I'd put one on.

Some people think really weird. They complain to Delata about sticking their fingers in a moving fan? Gimme a break, these people need to get lives. That's almost as bad as the guy that tried to sue Lawnboy™, when he picked up his lawnmower to trim his hedges and cut all his fingers off except for his thumbs.

apparently adding a fan guard increases noise, but it is better then having your finger stiched up
