Here is the fan filter I plan on getting to go on my MM U2-UFO
http://www.petrastechshop.com/12blalfanfi.html

I'll be changing out my current fans to some Yate Loon D12SM-12 fans. The problem is that the Yate Loons have closed corners. My current fans have open corners, which allows me to use two sets of screws. One set to attach the fans to the Thermochill PA120.3, and the other set to attach the fan filter to the case and then to the fans on the Rad. Since the Yate Loons have closed corners, I'll only be able to use one set of screws. So the question is: what length does the screws have to be? Is anyone else running this sort of setup? If so, link to exact screws you used would be helpful.

So in order it goes U2UFO case > fan filter > silicone sheet > fan > loc nut and screws to thermochill rad

So its all flush finish (the fan filter is within the case) the only thing that pokes out is the head of the screws. Im going to spray paint the head of the screw black so it will be a neat industrial look.

The loc nut is used so you can tighten it down so no rattles.

I used 2 inch M6 philips head screws (I did trim them down a bit)

Or you could do this and save buying fan filters: U2UFO case > Rad > Fan
Thus the fins on the rad act as your fan filter, no loss of potential air flow from restrictive fan filter.

I would say, the only guaranteed way of doing it would be to take a physical measurement of all the components the screw will go through. Add all the depths and add a little tollerance for the washer/nut. They make all sorts of standard lengths, or you could cut it to length.

Right now I have standard aluminum fan filters on the case. The reason I want to switch to those filters that I linked to is because of the fact that you can remove the filter part without having to remove the entire unit from the case. This makes removing the dust a lot easier.

Yeah, I was going to do that whenever I made the switch this summer. I figured I'd ask first, to see if anyone else was doing this. And if so, what screws they used.

The removable filter is a neat idea, but I just put a vaccume cleaner on my fan filter and all the dust is gone...

On my thermochill in my last case I simply tapped the thread holes out with a $4 6-32 tap from ACE hardware. Then you can use 6-32 screws to mount everything. You really will need to put everything in place and measure as there is no reliable way to know exactly what length you are going to need. Roughly you can figure that the fans are 1" thick + the case and filters, so you are probably looking at 1 1/2" screws or so.
