View Full Version : Comparable alternatives to the Sk6
I'm ready for a new heatsink. Found a local pc shop that's got pretty much all I need. However, the SK6 is a little steep at 69CDN. I'd like to see some options. Watercooling is not one.
Anyways, are there any comparable heatsinks? The Swiftech 370 hs looks pretty interesting. I heard a copper version came out??? Also noting, I will be using a fan adaptor WITH an 80mm delta so I'd like something that will be easy to install.
Consider the Dynatron DY1206BH-638 featured here:

the OCZ Gladiator featured here:

I put these up against the SK6 in a head-to-head all using the same fan (key point) and both of them squeaked in a degree or two cooler than the SK6.

the OZC Goliath is nice- i have it and in some comparisons -they are link from the site (if you clickont e heatsinks)- tehe SK6 and goliath are really close - like 1 deg. and the noise is about the ssame- depending ont he fan, but i didnt understand what the problem was w/ the SK-6, was it price? or what?
oh well hope i helped
:eh?:
oh oops aslmos t forgot hte link http://www.webuildpcs.com/subcatmfgprod.asp?0=231&1=232&2=-1
Yes, looks like I'll be getting the OCZ Gladiator. THanks guys :)

Well, I don't want to deal with online ordering if I can get it locally so I ended up finding only one place that had the SK6. It was 69CDN (43US) heatsink only. That looked a bit high to me. Also, eventually, I was planning to get a fan adaptor for the new hs so I wanted instant setup. The SK6 uses clips instead of screws to hold the fan, which I feel is somewhat of a drawback if you use the adaptor.
Also, the clincher was that the OCZ Gladiator from the same store had this at 59CDN (37US) with Delta38 and thermal paste. I go for better deal :D
Why would you want to buy a fan adaptor that does not work. The SK6 because of it's design will need a high pressure fan to make it work at its best. Fan Adaptors that are designed to "funnel" the airflow from 80mm-60mm with no regard to proper airflow will just give you headaches. This issue has been discussed here so often that it makes me wonder why people still go out & buy them.

fan adaptors work when the air is being sucked and are great for people who want to get rid of noise.
however the sk6 does not need a fan adaptor as the clips can be bent like the old fop 32

The Millemium Glaciator 1` or 2 will cool just as good or better, and is alot quieter. I have one and also an Sk6 and it, beats the Sk6 all around
I'm going with Jason.
Millennium Glaciator II
Its better than the SK6 I think its a little cheaper, its alot less quiter and uses a 38cfm and 40dBA fan.
Gotta love how Everflow fans make the same cfm and same dBA instead of Delta where to get 38cfm you need 46dBA.
Happy Chosing

There has been tons of threads about these adaptors that are being sold & also reviews that show they do not give the performance they claim except for being quiet.
I do apologize for being very direct.

Hmm.. But a fan adaptor will usually go from 60mm to 80mm or 92mm.
So basically how would the fans dead spot come in?
The fan adapter will just basically transfer the air won't it?
Unless your not using a fan adapter and just like duct taping the fan on the heatsink then it defintely won't work.
