dumb question

I am new at networking. I have a question. I connected only 2 PCs with a nic in each going to a hub. Well I can't figure it out but my lan games work, my network neighborhood however detects no other computers. same on the other machine...Any ideas?

You might want to try rebooting, or refreshing a few times and see if they show up. You might also want to check your TCP/IP settings again and see if they're alright.

Hmm..

Usually after a clean reboot before I wouldn't see computers in Network Neighbourhood until maybe awhile like 15mins.

Then sometimes it never showed up I ended up installing "NetBui" and for some reason it showed up.

What operating system? Sometimes Win98 likes "file and printer sharing" enabled. Did you talk nice to em?

hmm...i can't get at the computers now, but i know that both have win 98 on them...and I've never seen anything in net neighborhood so its not just a one time thing.
