View Full Version : 8800GT on a Dell 305wt/22amp psu?

So I saw that thread about a guy who ran a 8800GT fine in a shuttle 300wt 18a on a single 12V rail. I know people have done it as well on my psu, but do you guys think it will work for the long run? The psu is not that old (a few months) since my other one died and Dell replaced it.

It only uses 20 watts more than that 7950GT, should be ok..

Not worried about that. Worried about the amps. 26 for 8800GT.

Er, ok... It only uses 1.66 more amps than the 7950..... Should be ok........

Are you sure? I thought the 7950 uses 22.....

The 7950GT doesn't use 22 amps on it's own, that would be 264 watts at 12 volts just for the video card alone. When they suggest a PSU rating, they mean for the whole system, not just the video card.
