Hello Everyone,

I'm trying to find the best clock/shader/memory settings for a 3-way 8800Ultra water cooled setup. All 3 cards are on Koolances blocks with 3/8 tubing and 240 rad using 110CFM fans. The cards load @ 56c with a clock of 701 using rivatuner.

My question is what is a good Shader and Memory clock for my cards? all of them are MSI same rev and all.

Finding Info about overclocking 8800ultras on google.com only brings me websites talking about buy a GTX and save your money, blah blah blah...

I'm currently using

QX6850 3.85Ghz 1.45v
Stiker Extreme "latest and greatest Bios"
4GB Dominator 1066MHz

The CPU is on a 2nd rail using a Koolance Block and another 240 Rad.

I will hit 4Ghz and get my $1300 worth out of the damn CPU :bang head

Anyways if anyone has a good plug for shader and memory settings give me a shout!

My Core won't go past 701Mhz w/ volt mod

I hope you have a good PSU!

Besides that I think the weakest link might be your MoBo. If possible I'd trade that towards a 780i board from eVGA. The 780i might give you more headroom on your CPU as well.

On the gfx cards I'd suggest running each card 1 at a time in turn and determining the max OC on each of the individual sliders 1 at a time. Then run all 3 sliders at max on 1 card and make adjustments as necessary. Record all 3 values. Do this for all 3 cards. Once you have the maxes for the cores, shaders, and memories from all 3 cards pick the lowest one's and flash each card to that value.

You should be pretty much maxed out at that point.

I am installing windows XP tonight so I may Flash the Cards using Nibitor 3.9 when I find the perfect core/shader/memory settings.

I'm currently using a 1200watt silverstone PSU and the 680i with a 1304 bios or better is able to use 4 sticks on ram and overclock the FSB, as before the 1304 bios I wasn't able to go 10mhz w/o BSOD.

PCI-E 2.0 doesn't interest me and tomshardware.com review with PCI-E vs PCI-E 2.0 makes me not want to waste money in a 1 year old PC even more. GX2 did just as good on a PCI-E 16x as the PCI-E 2.0. All though the extra watts pulled from the board to the videos cards would be nice and help remove the load on the PSU rails. But I still don't care. 780i also likes to play with 45nm Quads and 680i only 45nm Duals. Seeing im not going to drop another $1300 on a CPU for another year or 2 I rather wait :D

I damn wish I had a QX9650 and a 780i though. I know its hella easier to get to 4Ghz

IMO on g80 cores i would leave the shaders linked to the core. i never really had good luck clocking the shaders over their "linked" freq.

for mem, start at 1100 and work up in 20-25MHz jumps.

Forget the flash advice. It seems RT can now OC all the cards together.

My advice on a 780i had nothing to do w/ PCIe2.0...8800Ultra's are not even 2.0 anyway.

It sounded like you wanted to try to get your quad to 4GHz, and the 680i boards (especially the Asus ones iirc) are not the best candidates for OCing quads. I figured you could get a new board, and sell the 1 you have. It wouldn't cost you hardly anything compared to what you've already spent. :D

You have a very nice CPU...I see no reason to look at anything else until Nehelem.
