On an older socket 939 system I'm "only" getting 8100 in 3dmark06, but for an older machine that's really not bad. 14000 is a really good score for that card, regardless of the system that's gotta be close to the tops for that card.

If you submit your results online you should be given a graph of simialr system and where you stack compared to them. You can also do searched on futuremark's site to compare different pc/video card combination scores.

The best I was able to do was 13903. Running at the 702/1100.

939 processors are known to really bottle neck a higer-end video card. Vista is always going to make you score lower as well.

In my 939 system, I had an Opteron at 2.94 and I almost broke 11k with a 8800GT, same card I have now. I have seen people in 14k with the card, so I know it was not it holding the score back.

If you can, see if you can get a higher clock for a bench, it probably will not be stable but, it should be enough for a bench.

Also, what stepping do you have on your Opteron? the CCB1E are known to get up to 3.0GHz. If you know you have it, you should be good to go for another 5-600 Mhz.

I had a 600 watt Ulta power supply at the time as well for reference.

all i see is SLI's on that Database and Liquid cooled systems. i was seeing 20k and what not and thought that had to be crazy #'s.

im starting to think these tests dont tax CPU much at all tbh. cuz its basically 25% CPU load until those 2 tests which bumps my cpu to like 80% for a short while.

I have decent cooling, but for me to go higher I would need to upgrade it. Not sure what stepping it is. Under full load it does get quite hot. But 2.4ghz on stock voltage seems pretty good to me. I'm pleased, and it runs games at the resolutions I want.

wow 14090 is a VERY good score for a 8800gts 640... im only able to pull 11091 pts with my e6600 @ 3.6ghz... shows how much a quad helps... although my max clocks arnt as high, looks like your 8800gts 640 has a gem of an A3 core.

I was going to say the same thing, 14090 seems really good for a GTS-640. I get low 14319with a quad @ 3.8GHz and slightly OCed 8800GT (rig in sig).
