Cpu overclock - guidance needed please

hi,

Right,

I want to overclock my cpu, i am aware i can't overclock it much due to my 300w psu.

i have an epox 8kha mobo- is it straight forward to overclock it?? because theres a fsb option where you can type in ur own fsb in digits- is that all to it?

I want to overclock it to, maybe 140fsb, thats if the 300w psu can handle it.

System:

athlonxp 1600 @1400mhz
512mb ddr crucial memory
Epox 8kha mobo

I have the same motherboard. Yes, it is very easy and straightforward to overclock with this mobo.

Just bump the fsb up a little at a time, and see how high you can get. I would also suggest raising the memory voltage a little, maybe up to 2.7, that works best for me.

Also, remember, it you ever put it too high, and it won't even boot, hold down the "insert" key and hit reset. It shold boot then, and you can reset the fsb to a lower number. You usually do not to reset the cmos...

Yes...up your Vcore voltage to atleast 1.85v...My Epox-8k7a is @ 1.92v currently. I use alot of really loud fans to keep it cool.:cool:

You should be able to hit 140 fsb easy with good cooling. That 300w will be fine, provided you dont have a ton of things hooked up to it.

If you get an old 200W AT PSU and hook that up to your fans (not your CPU fan tho) and use your 300W to run most of your rig.
