Beware: I thought my PC was folding, but it wasn't

While wondering what the heck was going on with my drop in production. Opened the Display and it showed to be working...but I noticed it was still on Frame #5 of WU 28(27 have been completed). So I wonder what's the deal...F@H is running in the system tray....I cntrl-alt-del and see what all is running...yup there is winfah....but where is core_65????!!! I shut-down F@H and restarted it....still no core_65

I go to the directory and delete core_65 hoping it will just D/L a new one and work correctly. It created a new core_65.exe at 0 kb... So for some reason the core_65 isn't downloading correctly.

Luckily I have a second F@H rig working just fine so i copied the core to mine and now it works.


Morale of the story.... Just because it shows up in the system tray DOES NOT mean everything is working fine.

If anyone has noticed a drop in their production might want to make sure this isn't happening to you as well. i've lost almost 48 hours of Folding time to this :(

I just downloaded a new client when I upgraded the OS. Will keep an eye on it to be sure.

It would be fine if you were running a dual processor machine.
just shut both down and restart FAH2.

There ia a program called Fold Monitor that lets you see your progress. I don't have a link to the proper site but someone will be along to givve it to you. Sorry. Fold On.:)
