How do you think we could get some new members? I looked at one of the stats pages and saw that Overclockers Australia and harOCP are projected to pass us up.....so how do you think we could find some new members?

Personally, I found it difficult when I first joined the forum to understand what FOLDING@HOME was all about. I thought, how the h*ll can my computer help to fold proteins and cure diseases?

So, I think that if it were easeir for new members to understand what FOLDING was all about, than I think we could get a lot of new members.

I am also going to e-mail my friends about joining.

So, any ideas? Maybe mass emails?

Mass email may not be such a hot idea. That's a good way to have your ISP nuke your account. ;) The reason that we are being beat by the other two teams, although we are catching up to OCAU(maybe), is that OCAU has one member doing half of their production with access to a few hundred machines and [H]ardOCP just has a bigger forum with more members and their folding team from Folding v1 was huge. They aren't doing as well as they could be doing either because a lot of the members started on another project, so their efforts are divided. All things considered I think we are doing quite good. We are bigger than before. The team is enthusiastic and growing, even though active membership is staying the same. Can we do better? You betcha.

Maybe you're on to something with the explanation of folding. There have been several articles written that try to explain it but maybe it needs to simplified or even more detailed to make it more understandable.

I still think that frequent posting in the GD thread helps. BTW has anyone seen or heard from YMAN? I was going to delete the sticky and let him repost it since it's his, but haven't seen him around lately.

Haven't heard from YMAN in a while probably slowed down and relaxed for the Xmas/New Year HOLS!! ;)

I feel almost as if this is a family rather than a team. Feels kind of creepy when members just drop off without so much as a goodbye.
