I've got VMWare 105 running on XP Pro and due to some ballistix going bad, the registry got corrupted and I couldn't open anything in the administrative tools of the control panel.

So I went ahead and did a repair install. That mostly seems to have worked, but 2 of the 5(?) services that VMWare needs will not start.

So, I figured I would uninstall and reinstall it.

Didn't work so well. To uninstall it, it wants an *.msi file from a temporary directory that no longer exists. It won't uninstall without it. I have tried repair option, but that doesn't do anything either, though it doesn't generate any errors.

Is there any way to get it to reinstall without reformatting? I'm considering combing the registry and deleting all reference to VMWare and then trying to reinstall.

Thanks!

Did you try starting in safemode (F8), to uninstall?

Yikes I was too slow on my Edit. Saw after I posted that you were on XP.

Yep, as I said above, it is XP Pro.

I'll try that when I get home.

Well, I due to the mailbox meltdown at work, I didn't really feel up to hauling the monitor down to the basement to be able to boot into safe mode. I tried a few other things, and it wasn't behaving all that well in general. I'm going to move the data I need to save off of it and then reformat the drive.
