hey all...sorry in advance for the stupid question but this is my first overclocking build and I don't want to screw anything up too badly.

I'm using an Asus Rampage Formula MB in a Thermaltake Armor+ case with a Zalman CNPS9700 CPU fan. It looks like I can mount the fan with it facing in any of the 4 possible directions...is it better to have it blow towards the back of the case or down over the video card?

Thanks!

The best way i found is to experiment with it. See what gets you the best result, cooler temps.

I would suggest having it blow out the back to exhaust the heat as quickly as possible :)

I had a Zalman on my AMD chip. With the way it is designed, best bet is to have the air pushed out of the exhaust fan in the case.

Your case fans should be working in push and pull (front intake and rear exhaust) So you will want to have your CPU cooler blowing towards the rear of the case so that the hot air can be exhausted quickly.
