Anyone play it? I remembered I had an account with some good cards, and I was bored, so I installed it again, and the new version is HORRIBLE. Wow, just horribly slow, horrible UI, just horrible everything. There's that, I'm done lol, planning to sell my cards for whatever I can get and ditch the sinking ship.

I have a friend that alternates between MTGOL and WoW. He'll play MTGOL until he gets bored of it (takes a couple of months) then he'll switch to WoW and seeing as he doesn't like to join guilds or go raiding or anything he gets bored of slaughtering wildlife after a couple of months and goes right back to MTGOL.

Heaven forfend he actually pick up a good game like TF2 or something.

Remember back in the day, when MTG was played on tabletops with cards made out of dead trees? Remember actually having to interact with people to play? Yeah, me, too.

Well, apparently there is. There are even online variations of that, too! However, most people who actually communicate in games like Halo can't really be classified as 'people'.

Indeed :)

I used to play MTG when I was a kid. I've still got the last deck I ever built ever, too. They started changing the rules and adding new card types and completely bastardizing the entire game. I quit shortly before it went right down the toilet.

About two years ago I got into the Legend of the Five Rings CCG, and that was fun for awhile but once again, they completely screw it up. They've changed the rules and changed the sets and now 90% of the cards I own are no longer tournament legal.

I play from time to time. I tried the beta of that new version, it stunk. I play extended 2HG games, big fun. I designed myself a really annoying deck. It's a rare game that makes it past turn 6. I usually have 16+ lands on the table and 20+ cards in hand by that point. When I do my kill combo, it's for over 25000 damage :p People usually quit when I'm a few minutes into the winning turn :p

I made a $5 burn deck out of commons. It beat my friends mana speed that had like $300 worth of cards and it was SO worth it.

Used to play this at school all the time.

My last deck was similar to that. Drop a couple of Megrims down, an Anvil of Bogarden, and a couple Howling Mines for flavour. Then out comes the Shocker with a Fire Whip attachment. Kiss your hand goodbye, and take 2 damage per card per Megrim on the table. Of course, you can also speed the process up with a couple of Hypnotic Spectres and a Hymn to Tourak or two. ;)

Man, I used to be KING of the burn deck. Back in the day when Urza lands were all the rage, by the time turn 4 or 5 came about I could absolutely obliterate my opponent. It was pretty slick.

I was always a fan of black cards :P most of my decks would combine black with some color. But my most successful deck was red white.

I used to play MtG long ago with older rules. Back then there wasn't any 4 card of a kind limit and I used to have a deck with black lands and lots of plague rats. After a few turns I'd have so many plague rats out the opponent would need a miracle to wipe me out.

Then the 4 card limit was implemented and they got rid of the cool black border.

hah oh wow, yah there was a "group" of kids who did that at college, everyone would just be like holly christ those kids suck at life. For days it seemed like they didn't move or shower.

But really, they killed their chances of ever getting laid. ever.

Not saying you guys suck if you like the game, these kids were just strange. Its like watching a WoW addict (Like Mr. T) playing WoW all day dressed up like a Mowhawk night elf. Actually thats kind of bad ass come to think of it.

Sounds pretty slow :p By turn 5 or 6 I've got 200+ firecats breathing down your neck wearing a lovely CoA :santa:

If I had a good draw, you'd be lucky to get to turn 5 ;)

The deck also wasn't built around creature defense. Sure I had stuff in there for defense, but I was more concerned about dropping my Shocker/Fire Whip combo out. I had a few things for defense like Will 'o the Wisp and stuff like that, but the majority was just for removing cards from your hand and letting the Megrims do their work. Bounce decks and stuff like that could shut me down right quick 'cause nothing would hit the table for longer than a turn. Beyond the Shocker/Fire Whip, I also had a Wheel of Fortune and a Fork. Nothing like losing your hand, picking up 7 new cards, and then discarding those cards for new ones 'cause I WoF and then Forked it :)

With enough modifications I could've turned it into a grind deck very easily.

I looked in to possibly getting in to it a couple years ago, but I ended up not.

I would have probably had fun, but I couldn't bring myself to pour money into it.

I used to have a lot of fun playing with the real cards and stuff, but a big part of that was actually the social aspect - doing something with friends. Even then, I was horrendously cheap with the game...I was always making something out of nothing with my decks. Deck building was one of my favorite parts.

Played it, more or less by accident, from what I understood, you could buy expensive cards and win more or less by default.

A few of us were dragged along to a convention/tourney one friday night by a friend, we got there and realised it was a weekend thing not a one night thing, three days without sleep playing Magic in a Hotel convention room eating very little because 5 of us had the change in our pockets to buy food with.

Would have been crap had we not got into the last day of the tournament with no experience and decks that came from starter packs.
