Elite Pro power connector - is it really needed?

As the topic says. I don't use the external I/O module or remote, etc but only the card alone. I don't have the power connector to it for now and works perfectly fine. I'm just wondering if it helps and really needed to have that extra power cord connected? :confused:

You running digital? What card is this?

Is the power connection MOLEX?
