Coolbits

I've tried multiple times to get Coolbits working, but no matter what I try it doesn't add any options to my Nvidia Control Panel. Any ideas?

If you are on a newer system, coolbits does not work. Last card I had that I remember using it was a 6600gt :p

I'd suggest using RivaTuner, which you can get HERE (http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=163).

damn it. i've got Riva Tuner but I've also got nTune, need to be able to monitor temps properly, can either do it?

In Rivatuner, click on the button where it says Customize next to the description of your graphics card. This will bring up 5 icons, click on the last one which has a magnifying glass, this will launch a new window showing your various clocks speeds and temperature at the bottom.
