Hi,

I got a Dell E248WFP display & while the picture is huge, I am finding the text is a little fuzzy & the background images look a little like they are moving. I am using WinXP Pro as well.

The "Bliss" background (the green one), the grass looks a little like its moving (its not supposed to). I just swapped this monitor in from my 6 year old CRT monitor (22" Mitsubishi monitor). I was expecting an upgrade & I feel like this is more of a downgrade.

The size of the screen looks nice but the color seems off & the quality of the image is just not so great.

I was curious what I can do (I upgraded the drivers on the card & the monitor but it still looks "fuzzy").

Thanks,
Rich

What connection are you using? If VGA, hit adjust on the monitor ;)

yeah, if possible, use the DVi connection for a cleaner image, also....do you have it set to the native resolution of the display? if it is not, it will be fuzzy.

Make sure that you're running the default resolution for the LCD, otherwise it will always be fuzzy.

Here is a little more info. I am using the native resolution. Its not so much that the text is fuzzy as the background. It almost looks like it is snowing (if you stare at the background image).

I am also using a VGA KVM switch (Belkin Pro 16 port). It worked flawlessly with my CRT monitor (no snow), so I dont think its a cable issue (though it might be).

As far as setting the monitor to VGA mode, I am not sure how to do that. It is in autodetect mode & I am assuming it knows i am using a VGA cable.

Would a DVI KVM do better?

Try it without the KVM. If it's still fuzzy with a direct connection we can troubleshoot further.

I'm betting its the KVM switch. It might have worked fine on the CRT, but on the Dell with its sharper detail and the added analog-to-digital conversion (due to D-SUB connection) you get noise/fuzziness...

Indeed....I'll bet it's the KVM. At what resolution did you use it at on the CRT? Perhaps, if you are now using a higher resolution, the KVM cannot handle it as well.
